I got into the teaching job by chance. When I was in 9th grade, my math teacher asked me to
take a class for a few students who were having difficulties. And believe me, I really enjoyed
teaching that class and I never knew teaching would be so interesting. I loved my “students”, and
was happy to answer the creative questions they asked.
After my graduation, I worked as a software ( 软 件 ) developer for a few years. But I
realized that no job could provide me with the satisfaction that I experienced while teaching.
I feel nervous on my first day of teaching. But now I can say that giving lessons was one of
the best experiences of my life: I was a Computer Science major (专业) , but I tried to help my
students with subjects that were not within my field. Every morning I would feel energetic and
excited thinking about the class and the bright faces that would be there to greet me, “Good
morning, Madam.”
To me, each day was a new beginning, with new feelings and new experiences. I loved to
open their young minds and read their curious (好奇的) faces while they tried to deal with
difficult topics. It was very wonderful to motivate (激励) them to take part in the class, think
critically (批判地) , question and also respect others’ views.
Although the students didn’t always feel like it was easy, it was very exciting to prove to
them that they could really learn anything. That is why I loved to teach.

In American countryside, people often park their cars in the yard when they are at home. So
you can easily understand whether people are at home or not. But I used to park my car in the car
barn ( 车库 ) when I was on holiday.
It was a Sunday morning. I got up early and went to the garden behind our house with my
husband. We planted some flowers and trees there. About one hours later, I heard our lazy dog
yipping ( 犬吠 ) in our house. I at once realized that something must be happening in the house.
Quickly, my husband and I came back to the house and saw a boy rush out of our house and run
away.
“Come in and see what was gone.” My husband said. “He must think nobody is in.”
“Shall I go to run after him or call the police?” my husband asked.
“No, after all, we have nothing lost.” I replied.
Some days later, a woman with the boy came to my house and asked, “Is it your dog? I found
that it killed my chicken yesterday, and I wanted to kill it. But my son said it was yours.”
When I was shaking hands with the boy to thank him. I felt something hard in my hand. I
wanted to say something, but he has run away again.
