情态动词无论初中还是高中都是一个考点，今天我们就说下情态动词 must

的一点用法。

must 看似简单，却是英语的一个难点，关于这个词的考查，关键在它的两

个意思和以 must 开头的提问。

must 的两个意思，其否定形式不一样。

第一个意思是“必须”：

Tom must finish the job. 汤姆必须完成这工作。

I must call him now. 我必须马上给他打电话。

Must Sherry go there so early? 莎莉必须去那么早吗？

must 作为“必须”用时，它的否定形式是 mustn't ，意为“禁止、不

准”，比如：

You mustn't take the book out of the reading room. 你不准把书带出阅览

室。

Everyone mustn't make a noise here. 大家不准出声。

第二个意思是“肯定、一定”，用来表示推测，这个时候往往是 must

be 结构：

That boy must be Jack . 那个男孩肯定是杰克。

It must be March 12th today. 今天肯定是 3 月 12 号。

He must be thirsty. 他一准是渴了。

当“一定”讲，表示肯定的推测时，其否定形式是 can't ，我们就把以

上三例改为否定句：

That boy can't be Paul. 那个男孩不可能是保罗。

It can't be June 5th today. 今天不可能是 6 月 5 号。

He can't be mad. 他不可能疯了。
